Vendor Feature: Overlook Barn
We are really excited about this blog post because we get to highlight one of our favorite vendors, Overlook Barn! They answered a few questions about weddings at their venue and working with our band.
Tell us a little about Overlook Barn!
Overlook Barn came to be when our owners, Katie and David, chose to get married in a family barn her grandfather built on top of Beech Mountain in the 1960s. Her dad lovingly renovated the barn in 2015 for them to celebrate their big day. In August of 2015 they were married there and officially had the first Overlook Barn wedding :). Overlook Barn has beautiful character throughout and breathtaking mountain views.
Cliffside Barn, the smaller barn on the property, was renovated in 2016 and offers an intimate and elegant celebration space. It feels like it’s in a world of its own with stunning mountain views all around!
What is your favorite thing about working in weddings?
We love being able to be such a special part of our couple’s wedding day. To be able to see them from the moment they step on the property to get married to them leaving at the end of the night as newlyweds is truly special.
Can you share a fun memory while working with Emerald Empire Band?
One truly spectacular Gatsby themed wedding happened on our property in 2019 and Emerald Empire Band was there to kick off the dancing. It was amazing to see everyone dressed up in 20s attire dancing to all the fun music the band was singing.
What is your most memorable experience as a venue?
From the owners: Our own wedding! We renovated the venue for our own wedding–that’s how we got started–so seeing it all come to life on our own wedding day was truly magical. We have since added many upgrades, including renovating Cliffside Barn, and a ton of stuff around Overlook itself. But that first wedding where we had all our friends and family in one place to show off what we had been working on and to pronounce our love and commitment is definitely going to be our most memorable 🙂
